Take a bite... [reviewing Eden Juicy Apple | 01 EDP, by Kayali]

Friendly warning; I watched Mona Kattan talk about Eden on YouTube, where I learnt that she wanted a fresh & fruity fragrance that is reminiscent of the fun & carefree fragrances that takes her back to her teenage years at a American high school in the 90s - so I think that you should know to go in expecting something that's pretty simple and light & fruity, In line with the body splashes and perfume oils that were extremely popular with teenagers at the time.

I'm saying this at the start because loads of people who have reviewed this fragrance seemed to have missed the inspiration & development story, and expected something else.

I've been craving apple notes in fragrances since falling for Eve Privè this spring, and Eden is a more impactful version of that; Eden stars a freshly sweet apple note, which lasts throughout the wear-time of the fragrance.  The blackcurrant, grapefruit, and the lychee notes are all detectable too, and add even more fresh sweetness. Mouthwatering from initial application onwards - the grapefruit in particular prevents the sweetness from reaching overload levels.

As the grapefruit & lychee from the opening settles into the background, I notice realistic strawberry & raspberry joining the blackberry note, which hits my nostalgic happy spot - I used to bathe in a strawberry body splash from Boots when i was younger.   The floral notes in Eden are very quiet, so much so that I can't pick out anything other than the listed jasmine and rose.   Something unlisted I do detect is what I think is passionfruit, that is louder than the florals much of the time.

The musky sugared vanilla soon mixes with the berries and gradually becomes creamier as the fragrance dries down, so I'm thinking that sandalwood is in the blend somewhere. 

Official key scent notes: Red apple, blackcurrant, grapefruit, lychee, wild berries, raspberry blossom, jasmine, rose centifolia, vanilla flower, amber crystals, sugared moss, and musk.

Eden was designed to be a youthful throwback to old school body mists, so it doesn't wear longer then their layering edp formulations on me. On average I get 7/8 hours wear, which is pretty good. Again: the lightness & simplicity of Eden is by design, so it is expected and I can't be mad at it.

After being thoughily impressed with the performances of Déjà Vu, Sweet Diamond and Invite Only, I have to say that I'm not sure if I'll ever replace my bottle of Eden when it's empty, even though I really enjoy it. Eden is not as quiet as the supposedly more intensely formulated Utopia is, so that's a huge plus, and I'll be much more likely to rebuy this over Utopia.
