NOTD: Close Your Eyes by orly...

Close Your Eyes dates back to Orly's 2005 Truth Or Dare collection, and I think that it must have been added to their core colour collection at one point, because it is still easy to find on most retail sites [eg Amazon, eBay and Nail Polish Direct] today, as both a regular polish and a gel one. 

The party season is almost upon us, but before we bring out the full-on bling and glitters of the season, let's ease into the glitz and glamour by getting our pearly glow on...

NOTD: Hawaiian Punch by Orly...

I thought that I'd try to drag myself out of my uninspired slump by writing a holiday-appropriate blog post, so let's have a Valentine's Day NOTD...  

For this post I thought I'd keep it simple and traditional, with girly pink polish and a small heart-shaped piece of glitter. I then shortened my options even more by looking through my stash, to find a easy-to-find polish that doesn't turn up in many blogs/blogs.. 

I think that I've done that, so now it's time to take a closer look at what I'll be wearing over Valentines Day this year...

Sneak peek: Melrose Spring 2016 nail polish collection by Orly...

For today let's do something totally different and take a look at another new spring nail polish collection (sorry, but I haven't come out of my winter blues state of mind yet). 

I think Orly polishes are of a good quality, but most of their collections are rather boring - they can come out with one good polish every now and then that captures my eye, but then they get a bit Essie and surround the good with the generic blah ones in most of their collections.

Will their new spring collection have any standouts, or is it all zzzzz?

As my previous NOTD post featured one of the two OPI Peanuts Halloween 2014 matte glitter topper's, I thought that I might as well voice my opinion on the other one too.

First Glance: Infamous Holiday 2015 collection by Orly...

ChicProfile has once again scored the first preview pictures of an upcoming nail polish collection; today it's the six piece Christmas 2015 collection by Orly.

So lets celebrate Christmas in July and preview the festive range by Orly after the jump.

I had to have it: Cupcakes and Unicorns FX polish by Orly...

I'm not a fan of bar glitter, but come on... look at the name...

Cupcakes and Unicorns is a polish in Orly's FX line; think of the FX polishes as glittery toppers to transform creme ones. I've not come across any FX polishes that are opaque on their own, so don't be surprised when they apply a lot sheerer then the appearance of the polish in the bottle.

As well as the red bar glitter, Cupcakes and Unicorns has a pink shimmer in the base (that flashes purple) that doesn't photograph very well, but looks stunning in natural daylight.

When I was googling for pics of this polish in action to see if I really had to have it I found that there are hundreds of photos showing Cupcakes and Unicorns over black nail polish, a few of it over pink, and nothing else. Layering the polish over black (or grey) is stunning and gives the most dramatic effects, but I wanted to be a little different, so I thought that I'd put my spare nail wheel to use and post some more colour options. 

In my mind cupcakes + unicorns = My Little Ponies, so what better way to test my bottle of Cupcakes and Unicorns then over a selection of polish shades that remind me of my childhood collection of My Little Pony figurines?

Orly Sparkle - Christmas 2014 Collection...

Chic Profile has the first promotional images of the Christmas 2014 collection from Orly. 

I wasn't wowed by past Orly collections, but this one looks a lot better.

Orly Halloween 2013 collection...

Hmm. I don't really pay attention to Orly releases as I'm not a big fan, and it doesn't look like their 2013 Halloween collection is going to change my opinion...

A) I personally already own near-dupes to the shades.

B) Aside from Melt Your Popsicle, the shades are released by Orly every Halloween.

C) And Melt Your Popsicle isn't new new; it's a re-promoted shade from a past Summer collection.
