Re-do The Review; Far Away Shine edp, by Avon

  FREE YOUR EXTRAORDINARY

Light up the world with exotic Ispahan roses to make your inner sparkle your outer shine.

This oriental and gourmand scent is expertly crafted around Ispahan rose, an ancient and exotic Persian bloom used in beauty for over 2,000 years and celebrated by women as a symbol of inner illumination.

I hadn't known that a new Far Away flanker was coming until I saw it being advertised in a catalogue late last summer. The name and bright colour did strike me as odd for the time of the release. I ordered it anyway, as soon as I saw it being advertised in a Avon catalogue since there hadn't been a single Far Away flanker that I've outright disliked, however when I shared my thoughts on it I wasn't blown away by it. This was most likely because it is fragrance geared towards the spring/summer months, but it wasn't released until right before autumn.

However now that brighter days are now finally here, I think that it's only fair that we revisit Far Away shine...

I love the sweet & juicy freshness from the blend of lychee & raspberry notes in the opening for Shine. This blend has been gently spiced with pink pepper, for a energising charge. This sweet blend develops immediately and it lasts throughout the entire weartime, so remember that, as how much you enjoy the top notes greatly impacts how much you'll enjoy the fragrance as a whole.

The floral heart is the least 'classic Far Away' of everything I've owned from the line, since it takes a while for it to develop a powdery undertone; I can separate a few drops of jasmine with the rose, but I don't get much orange blossom at all - which is a note that I've come to expect plenty of in a Far Away fragrance. In Shine it's the gardenia that is the most prominent floral note to me, and I love that there is a whisper of violet in the background too.

Sandalwood isn't listed as being included in Shine, but I pick up on some. The comforting base of musky sandalwood and vanilla is a Avon classic, that's comforting like a hug. The tonka & a pinch of patchouli gives the final stages of weartime a bit more energy as the projection softens.

Officially listed scent notes: pink pepper, lychee, raspberry, rose, Violet, gardenia, musk, tonka bean and vanilla.

The longevity & projection still isn't quite up to the impressive levels that are usual for the Far Away fragrance line, however I an more impressed now that we're in spring and summer isn't far away; I get around 6/7 hours average weartime & something that is straddling the point between soft and a more moderate projection, which doesn't become a skin-scent as quickly as it does in the colder weather - overall great for a mass-produced perfume at this lower/mid price and I can't complain now.

I do now enjoy Far Away Shine now that is warmer and will continue to wear and enjoy it through to the summer, however I still wouldn't say that I love it because of it not wearing well in colder weather - I live in Northern England after all 😀  However a future repurchase isn't out of the question if I see see it on a special offer.

The 50ml bottle is £16, the 125ml scented lotion tube is £4, and the 10ml perfume pen is £7.
