New year, new eyeshadow: Lolita eyeshadow palette, by Kat Von D Beauty...

The popular shade 'Lolita' is described as being a 'chestnut rose' [neutral rosy mid-brown] that already comes as a best-selling matte liquid lipstick, a cream lipstick and a eyeshadow/blush single and now we are getting a limited edition eyeshadow palette, which contains the original Lolita eyeshadow shade and seven new coordinating rosy-but-neutral shades.

The 8-pan all matte Lolita palette [plus a Glimmer Veil liquid lipstick & a liquid eyeliner in new Lolita shades] was a sneak release a week before Christmas, so I've a had a few weeks to test out everything.

Is this another must-have from Kat Von D, or has their run on unique-but-still-wearable themed eyeshadow palettes finally ended for me?

Promesa (pale pink), Besitos (dusty rose), Recuerdos (raisin), Hermosura (rose)

Con Amor (terra cotta rose), Lolita (chestnut rose), Corazón (plum), Eterno (eggplant)

Lolita is a fantastic 'staple' type of palette to own for us "we need some basic neutrals to ground our eye looks, but neutral shades are boring" people, since all of the shades are easy-to-wear brown based neutral base, highlight, crease and transition shades, but with that added rose in the undertones to add some uniqueness. You can take any shades from anywhere in this palette and they'll match perfectly - try pairing the lighter shades on the left-hand side of the palette with the darker ones on the right for more impactful looks, use the middle ones for softer gradients, or use this palette alongside another one to kick things up a notch. Also; like with the Lolita single, all of the shades in the palette make great blushes [aside from the original Lolita shade, Besitos  & hermosura are the best on my fair warmer-side-of-neutral skintone].

I've no complaints with the Lolita palette, as the brand is very consistent with their eyeshadows; fantastic quality (great pigmentation, smooth formula & long wearing), not too warm or cool shades that are flattering on every skin tone and easy wearablity. I've not experienced any problems with any of the shades, nor can I single any out as being favourites - I've worn every one a few times now and I honestly love them all.

I really enjoy the brand's bigger festive eyeshadow palettes for fun shades, but it their smaller theme-orientated palettes are my favourites & most-used and Lolita is the best one yet, as it is a "every skintone, every season, every occasion" all rounder colour story, that is great for wearing alone or for being a companion piece. The brand's permanent Shade & Light eyeshadow palette is a great neutral staple [I used to own it & keep umming and ahhing over rebuying it], but surely almost everyone who wants it has it by now, plus there are loads of copies of it out there now, so maybe it's time for a change...

KvD Beauty is exclusive to Debenhams stores in the UK, and the limited edition Lolita eyeshadow palette costs £32.

[The brand is only carried in selected larger stores, so the site is your best option - you can either have your order sent to your home, or your nearest store]
