New for Spring 2014: Sea Goddess texture nail polishes by China Glaze...

I thought that I'd share the photos that are beginning to make the rounds showcasing the Spring 2014 collection: Sea Goddess. The texture trend doesn't seem to be slowing down for the foreseeable future...

Music review - THIS IS IT: The Very Best of Dannii Minogue [CD and Itunes download]...

The Australian arm of Warner Music released THIS IS IT, a collection of singles spanning the past 23 years from Dannii's five studio albums on Friday 23rd August 2013.

☆/

They've arranged this release to cash in on her new, high profile job "to celebrate her Australian debut on The X Factor", and the CD edition contains a 24 page booklet, containing a ton of photos of Dannii over a twenty three year period, which the THIS IS IT producers tell us are previously unseen - although most of them are in the booklets for the deluxe editions of her albums...

So lets not hang around, and get stuck into Dannii's five eras, on offer here...

this blog has swatches for all of the shades, and has a photo of the OPI/Mariah gold and silver leaf topcoat. I'm just linking to the relevant blog post, because I just don't feel comfortable using the blog owner's exclusive photos.

NOTD: Looks Like Rain, Dear from Sephora By OPI...

I bought LOOKS LIKE RAIN DEAR in NYC in November in 2010 - I think it was a LE for the festive season. I'm totally in love with this one - it's so pretty and unique. It's a muted gold shade, packed with fine silver glitter - which shines in different colours when it catches the light.

Speedy review; Taylor by Taylor Swift edp...

The tangerine is the strongest fruit note on me - well, I say strongest, but it is still pretty soft and doesn't leave me with a lasting impression. There is soft vanilla present through all of the fragrance too, which adds a creamy sweetness and warmth to the fragrance.

The floral notes used are powdery and give the perfume a vintage feel. The listed magnolia note is the strongest floral note, and I can also separate the peony and a soft rose note.

After another few hours the fragrance turns slightly creamier vanilla note develops fully. The combined powderiness of the floral notes remain and softly fade away with the airy wood and musk base notes.

Key scent notes: Lychee, tangerine, magnolia petals, peony, hydrangea, vanilla orchid, sandalwood, apricot nectar, cashmere musk and soft woods.

DOA: Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson #3) by Darynda Jones...

☠/

Paranormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back! And she's drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because every time she closes her eyes she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the part-human, part-supermodel son of Satan.

Granted she did imprison Reyes for all eternity, but how is she supposed to solve a missing-persons case, deal with an ego-driven doctor, calm her curmudgeonly dad, and take on a motorcycle gang hell-bent on murder when the devil's son just won't give up on his plan of seduction..... and revenge?

China Glaze Halloween 2013 collection: Monsters Ball...

[credit; Chic Profile]

Yay!

After two months of almost daily internet searches, I've finally found swatch pics of China Glaze's Halloween 2013 collection; Monsters Ball.

When I found the above photo in June I was underwhelmed - China Glaze already have a range of texture polishes, 2010 and 2012 already saw purple, green and silver/orange glitters in their Halloween collections, and the Ghoulish Glow topcoat first popped up in 2011 I believe...

However yesterday I found a blog which has swatch pics [the collection is already on sale in Singapore - and I've been converted. The glitter polishes all have different densities to their past shade-a-likes so don't look samey, and the black texture in the collection has a wet-look finish, rather then the regular matt one.

Howl You Doin'
Blurple, pink and orange glitter in a purple base.

Fang-tastic
Green, pink, blue and purple hex shaped glitter in a clear base.

Boo-gie Down
Black, white and bronze hex glitter in a clear base. Oh - there's black bar glitter in the mix too.

Bat My Eyes
Gold hex and bar glitter in a black jelly base.

Bump In The Night
Black texture polish, which dries with a wet-look shine.

OPI Rock Goddess; Halloween 2013 set...

Yay; promo pics of OPI's Halloween 2013 Rock Goddess mini polish [1/8 oz each] collection have started turning up online, so without further ado lets get a closer look...

Yellowpalooza [yellow]
Stand in Lime for Days [lime green]
Rolling Bones [grey micro-glitter]
The Drummer is Hot [coral tinged orange]
FREE Skull Bracelet

Yellow, orange and green are my three least favourite nail polish colours, so I'm not wowed by this year's selection. The grey shade (maybe it's a liquid sand shade, not glitter?) appeals to me, but do I want to part with my money to own a lime and near copies of OPI's Halloween 2012 orange and yellow shades to get the one polish I want in the set?

No... Unless I come across this set in the future in TK Maxx at a low price. That's the only reason I own the OPI Halloween 2012 So So Skullicious set [orange, yellow, pink and black].

Yeah - green and orange are Halloween colours, but these particular hues are too bright for my tastes; the Rock Goddess collection looks like a summer holiday pedi range to me. It just doesn't excite me, and is not something I'd wear in autumn/winter [except the grey shade].

Overall: Rock Goddess gets a thumbs down from me. It look like the China Glaze Monsters Ball collection has won the Halloween range battle. Again.
