NOTD: Lux [PixieDust] by Zoya...

my full-sized Zoya bottle is in the shade Autumn

Today's polish choice is special to me because (A) my mini bottle [7ml] was a gift from an American friend, (B) it is my first Zoya PixieDust, (C) it is a Magical PixieDust, and (D) I don't own many Zoya's as UK stores don't stock the brand. Zoya's web store doesn't ship to the UK either, so I was reluctant to spend as much money as my proven-to-be-worth-the-money-for-me OPI polishes on them from UK sites as I didn't know if they would work for me.

Zoya discontinued their PixieDust and Magical PixieDust polishes at the end of 2014, but there is remaining stock on Nail Polish Direct for only £7.95 [UK RRP is £10.50].

Did the PixieDust live up to the hype for me?

NOTD: Shim-Merry Chic by OPI...

Today I'm keeping the Christmas spirit going a bit longer, by sharing a polish from OPI's 2009 Holiday Wishes collection. I've seen loads of photos and reviews for 2009's Christmas collection and really want all of the shades from it, but so far Shim-Merry Chic is the only one I've found for a reasonable price.

So for better pictures of this lovely shade on the nail, keep on reading...

New fragrance: Spring Reign edp by Katy Perry...

This spring will see the release of Spring Reign; Katy Perry's fourth fragrance release under Coty (Purr and Meow were released by Jigsaw).

The composition for Spring Reign is officially described as belonging to the floral-oriental family. Coty promise that the new fragrance is delicate and fresh, and conveys the feeling of the rebirth of spring and blooming flowers in a lush garden, when you can feel the scents of pink freesia and black currant flowers. Spring in bloom is described in gentle petals of violets which provide a romantic and slightly powdery shade to the spring opening. The heart of the composition blooms with May rose flowers, creating a rich bouquet along with gardenia, while Artemisia oil contributes to fruity passions and the fullness of the flowers. The base is created of benzoin, cashmeran and cedarwood oil, leaving a soft, resin-vanilla shade on the skin.

Welcome to Miami (Glow)... EDT by Jennifer Lopez.

Miami Glow was released in 2004 and I thought that it was a limited edition, but it is still easy to buy online from sites like Amazon cheaply today (my latest 30ml bottle I bought last week was only £10.99 there), plus every now and then a batch shows up in my local Boots, Superdrug, and Home & Bargain stores too.

I don't know if this means that it proved so popular that Coty decided to make it a permanent edition to Jennifer Lopez's perfume line, or it was so unpopular that everywhere still has tons of backed up stock to get rid off. Either way I thought I would share my thoughts on this sunny version of the original Glow...

Midnight Crossroad by Charlaine Harris

Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town.

There’s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There’s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there’s new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he’s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own).

Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth...

The inhabitants of Midnight, Texas, have all chosen the derelict little town for its size and its quietness—it’s a great place to hide. But what are they hiding from? Bobo Winthrop, proprietor of the local pawn shop, seems to know a little bit about everyone in town, and they all have secrets. The new tenant in the basement of the pawn shop only comes out after dark, while New Age instructor Fiji Cavanaugh openly claims to be a witch and can talk to her cat, Mr. Snuggly.

When Bobo’s girlfriend, Aubrey, disappears, people start to ask too many questions, and everyone begins to fear that their pasts will be exposed, along with Aubrey’s.
