The power of the plush? [reviewing the Power Plush foundation, by Kylie Cosmetics]

"my power plush longwear foundation is a hydrating, instantly smoothing foundation with medium, buildable coverage and up to 12 hours of comfortable wear. this weightless formula seamlessly blends into the skin to blur fine lines, pores, and texture.

it leaves a soft, cushiony feel with an airbrushed, satin finish that’s not too dewy, not too matte, but the perfect in between"

medium, buildable coverage - creamy texture blends seamlessly into the skin.

Natural, satin finish - feels weightless and skin breathable.

Up to 12 hours of comfortable wear - doesn't cake or crease, and is sweat, humidity and waterproof.

Hydrating and non-comedogenic - doesn’t clog pores, settle into fine lines or cling to dry patches.

Contains flex form properties - for highly comfortable, flexible wear.

I'd tried various things from Kylie Cosmetics back when it was owned by Seed Beauty, because everyone would always rave about how fantastic it was and I'd suffer from FOMO. However I was underwhelmed with almost everything I tried, and I didn't even bother reviewing some of it here, because I couldn't scrape enough words for a useful review.

Last year I was curious to see if the quality had improved since Coty now owns the brand, so I used some of my Boots points on the Bronze [eyeshadow] Palette from them - I really liked it and ended up buying the Classic Matte palette soon after. I then got a LE set of products while  Christmas shopping [Boots still stocks it], and I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I like those products too - especially the mascaraSince I've gained confidence in the brand, I recently decided to take the plunge and try their new foundation which I'd been noticing loads of rave reviews for...

... I have very dry skin, so if I bother with a base I wear Huda Beauty GloWish Skin Tint, or every now and then I'll go for a BB cream - it's been several years since I've actually bought a medium+ foundation base before this.

Wish me luck 🙏

Power Plush does indeed have a soft matte [satiny] coverage, with medium/buildable coverage as claimed. It works well over all of the primers I've tried with it, and it can be applied equally well with a slightly damp sponge for lighter everyday coverage, or with a brush when I want fuller coverage - one day I was in a rush and dropped my sponge, so I used my fingers for application & to blend it in and that application worked just as well as using a sponge does.

I find that this foundation wears for 12+ hours as claimed. Most importantly, there's been no caking or flaking on my dry skin.

Whenever I find a base product that doesn't cake or cause me very dry,  eczema-prone skin any irritation or  flaking, I know that it must be special. Power Plush also doesn't settle into my fine lines, and there hasn't been any transfer - I don't use setting powder anywhere other than my undereyes.

Also; the claimed blurring effect of the foundation is 100% real - I swear that I don't retouch, add filters, or otherwise edit any of my blog photos.  I know that the photos look artificial, but I spent a couple of days taking hundreds of selfies and these were the best - I was so excited about sharing my experienes with the foundation and didn't really think about photos until after I'd written the post.

Sorry that I haven't got a proper camera for better quality photos; the ones here are just quick non-flash selfies taken in front of a window on my cheap phone, and my fair skin is practically glow-in-the-dark... It feels like every time I save up for a nice camera, something essential breaks and needs repairing/replacing.

In the past Kylie Cosmetics definitely wasn't a popular brand with me, but now that a different parent company owns it I'm going to be checking out more stuff for sure. I felt that I had to write a blog post to announce that Power Plush has been my favourite full-on foundation formulation purchase in that I can ever remember making in my memory and I had to go to a larger Boots store to find the Power Plush concealer - I'm pretty impressed with it and wear it happily, but so far im not as wowed as I've been with the foundation.
