Wear it or drink it? [reviewing Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33 Eau de Parfum Intense, by Kayali]

               The Vibe: Yummy. Happy. Irresistible.

Yum Pistachio Gelato | 33 is a delicious explosion of irresistable and edible notes including pistachio, voluptuous whipped cream, and fizzy cotton candy.

A truly yummy fragrance that charms with an unforgettably intense, gourmand scent trail that will have you smelling good enough to eat!

New Kayali release time... and it's from my favourite fragrance family - it's a gourmand!

I was very excited about this release; on paper it reminded me a bit of Utopia, boosted up with some elements introduced in Vanilla Royale. The longevity & aura of Utopia was an disappointment for me, even though I loved the scent of it, so getting a fresh take on the fragrance was something that I'd been looking forward to trying.

Has it won me over, or is it once again too quiet?

I'm struggling to describe the unique note of pistachio in here; slightly 'green' & earthy underneath the lighty salted nutty sweetness. As the accord is pistachio gelato, there is also a milky baseline which runs throughout the fragrance's wear-time. The gelato is sweetened & given some body with added whipped cream. There is also a quiet citrusy undertones to everything, thanks to the bergamot and gelato.

The pistachio soon begins to lose it's greeness as the roasted hazelnut develops, lending a more woody feel to the nutty blend. The gelato & whipped cream blend also recieves an upgrade, thanks to a decadent cardamomon sprinkled rum - this is topped off with a hint of delicious marshmallow. There is also a gentle bouquet of pear-soaked geranium, jasmine, peony, rose, lily & some freesia whispering among the edible notes, preventing the rich sweetness from being too heavy.

The tonka, cotton candy & sandalwood gradually merge with the nuts and boozy creaminess, giving me the slight impression of those iced coconut candies. The cedar soon joins in with the medley, leaving a balsamic undertone which adds an interesting contrast & depth to the sweetness. I can also separate hints of raspberry and cocoa thoughout the base, although anything resembling peach sadly remains hidden to me.

Key scent notes: pistachio gelato, bergamot, hazelnut, rum, cardamomon, lily-of-the-valley, peony, pear, geranium, jasmine, white peach, raspberry, whipped cream, marshmallow, cotton candy, Turkish Delight accord, tonka bean, sandalwood, cedar and cocoa.

Yum is one of Kayali's intense parfum formulas and it shows; it's one of those wonderful "I'll apply it in the morning and it'll still be detectable at the end of the day" formulas. It doesn't have a large aura, but other people an arm's distance away can pick it up easily and it remains detectable to me for the entire day.

My initial guess was right on the money; Yum has the same kind of blend of nuttiness, milky creaminess, and the fluffy sweetness as of the kind of that found in Utopia. Yum then mixes the softness with the rum, green bite, hint of spice, and a similar blend of richer woody notes to those in Vanilla Royale, to bulk up the longevity & aura here - my sole complaint with Utopia was with how quickly it becomes a quiet skin scent, so having the same hints as those in Vanilla Royale added to this fragrance, strengthens
the Utopia DNA. Another way that Yum is reminiscent to Utopia, is the easy wearability of it; there are plenty of key scent notes here that expecially appeal thoughout the spring and summer months, and also some of my favourite autumn and winter comforts.

I've already inspired a friend to buy a bottle of Yum, because she loved it on me - and she has mentioned that she has received several compliments, so this fragrance must have a wide-ranging appeal. Another hit from Kayali to add to my favourites list...

Yum comes in 10ml [£25], 50ml [£79] & 100ml bottles [£107].
