If you're into fragrances that break traditions, this fig-meets-matcha unisex perfume passes the vibe check. It’s the perfect everyday matcha perfume that’s like a reset for your senses. Let’s get it.
A sensory plot twist for your senses - this floral green scent that's gourmand-adjacent will have you dripping in main character energy as you take metaphorical sips of creamy and sustainable matcha... then feast on our high-key juicy figs. An energetic yet calming floral green scent for a script flip you didn’t see coming.
Clock in early on this one… it’s serving scents that makes no sense yet arouse every sense… and it’s impossible to gatekeep. #JustSaying
I'm not a fan of matcha in terms of tasteq, but the other new addition to the Perfect Nonsense fragrance line really impressed me, so I'm ready to dive in in Figgy Matcha to find out if if ít can stand proudly next to it...
Fig is one of those scents that ìs hit or miss, no in-between on me, and fortunately Figgy Matcha is safely on the hit side; from leafy green at first, then transforming into a milky blend, and finishing with a quiet jammy sweetness, we're being treated to the full effect in Figgy Matcha. Dewy muguet [lily] & fresh lavender complement the grassy matcha wonderfully - I can't separate any violet, sadly.
Figgy Matcha warms up and becomes creamier as the matcha turns almost hay-like, the florals become powdery, the fig reaches the jammy stage, and the patchouli begins to peek through the sandalwood, Cardamom & amber blend at the base.
Sadly the longevity and projection aren't up to the new standard that Banana Oud set; I get around six hours of wear, and a soft projection. Six hours longevity isn't terrible for the price, but the soft projection makes it seem weaker than it is.
Officially listed scent notes: Fig, Muguet, Lavender, Matcha, Violet, Cardamom, Sandalwood, Amber, and Patchouli.
Figgy Matcha brought Philosykos [Diptyque] to mind to me on my firstuns wear onwards - it's not a dupe, but I find that it does share some similarities. Figgy Matcha smells much more expensive than it is.
I'm unsure if I'll ever replace my bottle once it's empty because of the lacklustre projection, but the actual scent is excellent.
Figgy Matcha can be bought from the Avon website, Avon catalogues, Amazon, eBay, and some Superdrug stores also stock it. The 50ml edp bottle is £13, the matching 200ml body spray is £10 and the 150ml bottle of scented shower gel is £5.25.
