A curious look back... [reviewing Curious edp, by Britney Spears]

Bringing back Britney Spears iconic first perfume for Superdrug's 60th Birthday with an exclusive packaging.

This exhilarating white floral fragrance celebrates Britney's birthplace with Louisiana magnolia, and is wrapped in the sensuality of vanilla-infused musk.
A Curious perfume, for the inquisitive at heart.

I remember liking Curious but not but being a huge fan of it or anything because I wasn't really into floral fragrances at the time but I'm a huge Britney spears fan & wore it any anyway, but once Fantasy was released I never looked back at Curious [though the limited-edition flanker Curious: In Control was enjoyable enough for me to had gone through two bottles].

My tastes in fragrances has changed a lot during those (almost) two decades & I've always planned to revisit Curious at some point, and when I saw that Superdrug have released a 100ml bottle in limited edition packaging for the company's 60th anniversary I decided that now is the time

Most other people describe Curious as being sweet & light from first application, but the top notes give a rather loud fresh & aquatic opening on me, because it is the cyclamen & lotus that develops first. I'm not sure if there is melon or other watery fruit alongside the pear, or if the cyclamen is boosting up the pear.

The opening floral blend gradually quietens down and the fragrance becomes a stereotypically feminine blend of sweet & creamy magnolia, jasmine, lily and tuberose, with a breeze of lingering pear. There is also a soft powderiness present underneath which I think is from a little bit of orange blossom & heliotrope, which is a blend that adds a vintage feel.

The vanilla infused amber & woody base adds more of a creaminess & cozy sweetness to the fragrance as it slowly becomes closer to the ski.

Scent notes: Magnolia, pear, lotus, tuberose, cyclamen, jasmine, sandalwood, musk, white woods and vanilla.

Curious has great longevity for a mid-range perfume, but considering the affordable price-point you find it at nowadays it's fantastic; it lasts for a complete working day.

Back in the day it was easy to overspray Curious and for it to then become overly heavy in hotter weather, but the perfume must have been reformulated at some point because the formula is much softer now and doesn't project as far as it used to. This formulation change is great news for migraine-prone me, and my more adult appreciation of pear, magnolia [now one of my favourite floral notes] jasmine and lotus makes me enjoy Curious much more than I used to. Such a surprisingly adult and classical-seeming fragrance, considering the celebrity range origins and below 25 customer target market.

You can buy the 100ml anniversary bottle from Superdrug for £22. Not the lowest price available, but you know that the juice is new this way.

If you are not bothered about getting slightly older juice, you can just buy Cuorious from retailers like The Perfume Store, The Fragrance Shop, Boots occasionally stock it, and Amazon always carries it.
I also recommend that you try outlet stores like TK Maxx, B&M, eBay stores.

Alternatively; just do a quick Google search of the many online retailers for the best deal that particularday - you can easily find larger bottles below the £20 mark, and 30ml & 50ml bottles are also easy to find.
