Speedy Review: Pink Sugar Berry Blast edt, by Aquolina.

The original note of Pink Sugar is enhanced by a boost of blueberries and blackberries, taking on an interesting sugary connotation...

A sweet and sugary fragrance, inspired by the sweetness and softness of cotton candy. A delightful world accented by delicate sweet touches reminiscent of the joy and fun of an evening at a fair.

A unique olfactory experience intertwining fantasy and reality.

I'm a big fan of Aquolina's Pink Sugar and have lost count of the number of bottles I've gotten through during the last couple of decades. I'd just finished yet another bottle and was looking around online for the best offers on a new one, which is how I discovered this version; the promise of Pink Sugar, with an added blast of berries, Cedar, moss and cherry. How can that be anything other than a winner?

I've also tried a couple of the flankers too over the years, which have also been nice,so I thought that a blind buy would be a safe bet. Will the year be starting with a bang?

I can pick up on the new blend of blueberries and blackberries instantly, and this fresh twist lasts throughout the weartime. Behind the new stars, it's the traditional Pink Sugar mix of strawberry, vanilla and liquorice on a bed of cotton candy that reign supreme and I can't really separate any of the other notes from the mostly linear jumble - any complexity this fragrance may offer other people just isn't there for me.

I'd been really interested in getting this after learning that it is meant to contain a cork accord, which is something that I can't remember coming across before, but I can't pick up on anything that might be it. Most disappointing for me is the complete lack of the cedar, moss and the cherry, which are all of the reasons I bought this in the first place.

Overall the soft & sweet jumble is like walking through the beauty section in Victoria's Secret, or a celeb fragrance display in Superdrug [I'm particularly thinking along the lines of Ariana Grande or Sabrina Carpenter]. Nice but copying what has been done before, whilst missing that special spark.

Officially listed scent notes: Blueberry, Blackberry, Orange, Bergamot, Cotton Candy, Cherry, Wild Strawberry, Cork, Caramel, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Cedar and Moss.

Berry Blast is not something that I'd describe as being outright 'bad', but there is nothing memorable here scent-wise and the juice performance is poor; around 4 hours on average, with a soft projection that quickly becomes a skin-scent. Ultimately I'm glad I bought a cheap, slightly used bottle on ebay, rather than spending more on a new bottle because it isn't something I'll bother wearing anywhere other than lounging around at home. Berry Blast doesn't have that playful spark that Pink Sugar has and the performance is very disappointing in comparison.

You can buy new bottles of Berry Blast on Amazon, Direct Cosmetics, and from a few ebay stores.

100ml bottles are usually available for under £25 - bottles of body mist & hair perfume come & go pretty often too.
