Speedy review; SJP NYC edp, by Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker NYC Eau de Parfum, the new version of the original SJP NYC Eau de Toilette from 2009, came out at the beginning of 2016. The fragrance is inspired by the character of Carrie Bradshaw from the TV series Sex and the City, played by Sarah Jessica Parker...

This adventurous fragrance thrills the senses with a concentrated cocktail of floral, fruity, musky notes. Energetic, exciting and sexy, SJP NYC is both vivid and vivacious and it is the ultimate style statement in fragrance.

I recently saw that the edp variant of SJP NYC is available at Superdrug [online & app] for only £16, so I wanted to give a short summary of my current thoughts on this past favourite - time for a backup purchase, or time to move on?

I love the scent of strawberries so SJP NYC hooked me in immediately [strawberry is the strongest note on me], just like it did the first time - it wears from the top and hints remain as the fragrance dries down to a skin-scent. The osmanthus also is long-wearing and compliments the strawberry and mandarin perfectly. Out of the florals, it is the honeysuckle & mimosa that are the strongest on me, and I notice the quiet hints of the rose as the vanilla develops - I also wonder if there is freesia here too?

The way that the floral notes are more defined to me almost 8 years after having had my last bottle is mildly surprising to me - an advantage of my age, I guess. The strawberry-coated floral bouquet settles into the rum & creamy sandalwood base really smoothly. The lasting power is neither outstandingly great nor terribly bad - it wears for around 6/7 hours. For the affordable price-point, I think that this is very decent.

Officially listed scent notes: Italian mandarin, osmanthus, wild strawberries, gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa, Damascus rose, vanilla, sandalwood, rum and creamy musk.

I love that SJP NYC has such authentic key note accords, and appreciate that the other scent notes are kept very subtle to keep the fragrance uncluttered and clean - I think of SJP NYC as comfortable & casual, but nothing that would be termed as being out of place on occasions where I'm dressing up a bit. I'm very happy with my repurchase of this and have been wearing it every other free day, as it's very easy to wear. I'm 40 and don't feel like mutton dressed as lamb in it. I'll be considering buying a backup while this price offer is on.£16 for a 150ml bottle at Superdrug.
